The 1060 Team are pleased to announce the release of 1060 NetKernel v3.0.0 Preview 3.

1060 NetKernel 3.0.0 is a comprehensive update ranging from small optimisations to the kernel through to large scale enhancements to higher-level libraries and system tools. In addition this distribution incorporates all of the previous updates to the 2.x.x distribution''s modules.

This is the third and final production-ready preview release. The final release will differ only in that it will have updated introductory documentation and user-guides.

New Features in Preview-3

o Process Table -Asynchronouos processes whose parent process has ended are now shown in the process table and may be killed.
o Grouped Accessor Docs - Accessor Listing is now paginated and linked to the host module.
o XRL Documentation - Improved to provide more accuracy and detail.
o Logging Configuration - Logging can now be configured to fine granularity - see system.xml
o Apache Chainsaw Log Viewer - Chainsaw can now be configured to receive NetKernel logs.
o getClonedXDA() - Method added to XDA API to give a safe cloned IXDA
o Beanshell Concurrency - Any given Beanshell script may now be run concurrently.
o Logging pagination - The NetKernel log viewer now provides paged navigation.
o Streaming API for XML (StAX) - ext-xml-core now exports javax.xml.streaming and provides StAXReaderAspect and transreptors.
o Look and Feel - The graphic design has been updated.
o Thread Stacktrace on deadlock on JDK 1.5 - If you are using JDK1.5 you now receive a detailed stack trace if deadlocked thread is killed.
o XmlBeans v2.0.0 - The Apache XmlBean library provided in xml-core has been updated to v2.0.0 - improvements include better performance and support for XPath and XQuery to place cursors.

Release Schedule

This distribution is a production-ready technical release, the infrastructure such as the kernel and the modular service libraries are production stable - it is safe to build and deploy applications using the shipped modules. Applications and services built on the 2.0.x distribution may also be deployed on this distribution.

The offical final release date for 3.0.0 will be determined by our progress on documentation and coordinating the launch marketing programme - current ETA is late Q4 or eary Q1 2006.
