Now that Adobe has opened up the AMF 3 spec, is there any chance AMF could find its way into NetKernel V4? It would be fantastic for Flex/AIR developers to be able to code ECMAScript on both the client and server side. Could open up Netkernel awareness to new growing group of developers

Chris,

Thank you for the link to this specification. We'll take a look at it and consider it for NetKernel 4.

Is this a critical technology for your project?

Kind regards,

Hi Randy,

Yes it is. We are building a Flex app and while there are many ways we could connect to NetKernel we would prefer a compressed binary format thus AMF3.

I have been looking at NetKernel since 2005, but have never picked it up. However, I keep coming back to it and am very interested in what V4 will look like. I am hoping it will be a bit more accessible.

If you are interested, here are several open source AMF implementations.

While not related to AMF - Merapi is another interesting project that connects Adobe AIR/Flex and Java for desktop apps. I think an AIR/Merapi/Netkernel desktop app could be very interesting.
