Fun in the Snow

We had a bit of Snow on Thursday, but not enough to stop me walking the sprog to school. I was out at night though, and on the way back from the pub I could see the snow drifting down, heavy and silent. If it kept up, today would be special. And it was. Deepest snow I've ever known in England, though stuff in Scotland and Oregon has put it to shame. In those places though, people know what to do. Not here.

There's a line of cars all stuck in my road. I was taking pics right then, but had spent a half our or so fending cars away from my one, that was parked by the road. First some BMW with bald tyres, then a Herberts Bakery Delivery van, which ended up having to slide backwards to montpelier

Here's a video of a car on the way up to give an impression of what it was like: people out there depth and getting into a worse state. Imagine a large van doing exactly the same thing and you know what we had to deal with.

An hour later the police closed down most road access to the area: St Michaels Hill, Horfield Road, Cotham Brow. Too steep, too dangerous. Fun for sledging though. As the sprog did get the day off school, he got to do that, play on the wii and help build an igloo. Sort-of-igloo, anyway.
